Our Building a High Quility Music Education Toolikit provides a clear, step‑by‑step approach to help schools plan, deliver and embed a high‑quality music curriculum. Designed for use by anyone in the school, the toolkit includes practical resources to support consistent, confident music provision aligned with national expectations.

In partnership with HFL and AlbanTSH the HMS curriculum support programme aims to give all class teachers the support they need to teach music more confidently. 

Continues Professional Development (CPD)

We offer a range of high‑quality CPD opportunities for teachers, subject leaders and senior leaders, supporting effective music teaching and leadership across all phases.

Networking

Our music networks provide opportunities for professional dialogue, shared practice and sector‑wide collaboration across Hertfordshire.

Schools are invited to register their interest in the following networks:

Lead Schools for Music

Schools can access advice, guidance and professional dialogue through our Lead Schools for Music, recognised for their strong practice and leadership in music education.

Using the Lead School Contact Form, schools can:

  • submit a query
  • arrange a face‑to‑face or online meeting
  • schedule a telephone conversation
  • organise a school visit

School Visit

Schools may request a tailored visit to support the development of their music provision. Visits can include lesson observations, curriculum discussions and strategic guidance.

Music Mark of Recognition

Hertfordshire Music Hub can recommend schools to Music Mark, the UK Association for Music Education, for the Music Mark of Recognition for Dedication & Improvement following engagement with the HMS music self‑evaluation process. This nationally recognised award celebrates a school’s commitment to high‑quality music education, providing a certificate and logo to showcase achievement. Through Music Mark, schools can also access professional development, curriculum resources, sector updates and networking opportunities, supporting ongoing improvement in music provision.

School Music Review and Music Mark of Recognition

Delivered in partnership with HFL Education and Alban Teaching School Hub, the HMS Curriculum Support Programme strengthens teachers’ confidence and subject knowledge. The programme equips class teachers with practical strategies, resources and guidance to deliver high‑quality music lessons with confidence and consistency.
