SoundSensations is a new music scheme being launched for SEND schools currently with a pilot project running in the Spring and Summer terms.
The project incorporates the Sounds of Intent music framework and the new Trinity Awards and Certificates in Musical Development which are linked to this.
Accessible music technology will be incorporated into the lessons, as well as using traditional instruments in the classroom.
HMS staff will visit schools twice each half term for 1.5hrs to work with two classes learning pieces of music using a new music resource, also based on Sounds of Intent, called CountMeIn!
School staff will continue to work on the pieces in the weeks in-between.
Over the year a profile will be built up of students musical development using Sounds of Intent and schools will be able to apply for students to receive the Trinity Awards if they should choose to do so..
The academic year will conclude with a joint schools concert.

Sounds of Intent (www.soundsofintent.app) is a model of musical development that sets out how we all engage with music, from children in the early years to older people with dementia, from those with profound learning difficulties who are still learning to process sound, to others who are regarded as advanced musicians in their culture.
The music framework is now also accredited with Trinity College of Music. HMS have worked with one Herts school to embed Sounds of Intent into their curriculum and assess some students with some also gaining Trinity awards.
We can help guide other schools into using Sounds of Intent including delivering CPD.
