Funky Pie is the inclusive music education team at HMS who can, alongside our other hub partners, offer creative music making opportunities for children and young people in special schools, mainstream schools and the wider musical community.
The Funky Pie team can work with you to provide a wide range of high quality musical experiences for the young people in your school.
At the heart of the Funky Pie offer are the SEND Arts Award courses. They are created and delivered through a collaboration of participating schools and a diverse team of artists who love to share their skills, knowledge and enthusiasm with others.
Across the year, the Funky Pie team bring schools together for workshops and events designed to support young people gain Explore, Bronze, Silver or Gold Arts Awards. These are national qualifications awarded by Trinity College London.
This experience gives young people the opportunity to work with artists with different skill sets such as a sculptor and a viola player, or a storyteller and a percussionist. HMS works in partnership with your school staff to help each young person build a body of work that is expressive, creative and unique to their ‘musical voice’.
