Welcome to Royston Music School

We are a centre for all things musical in Royston and the surrounding areas; and are part of the wider North Herts and Stevenage region. Here you will find all the information you need about learning a musical instrument and joining an ensemble at Royston Music School.

Young people can begin and continue their musical journey in any discipline with us.

Take a look below, for information on how to register for our individual lessons and ensembles or to find an ensemble to suit your needs.

Individual lessons - what we offer

We offer individual music lessons across a range of instruments:

  • Brass: baritone/euphonium, cornet, flugel horn, French horn, tenor horn, trombone, trumpet, tuba
  • Piano
  • Strings: violin
  • Woodwind: bassoon, clarinet, flute, oboe, recorder, saxophone

If you are due to be starting lessons soon, we recommend sourcing an instrument. Herts Music Service is now accepting applications for our updated instrument hire scheme:

Access to Instruments enables us to make music more accessible, affordable, and inclusive. For £28 per term any resident of Hertfordshire, or those engaged with musical activity within Hertfordshire, can access the wide selection of instruments that HMS has to offer. Instruments are subject to availability, and we suggest applying ahead of your lesson date to secure an instrument. Head to Access to instruments (hertsmusicservice.org.uk) for details.

For more information, contact our Instrument Team at HMSInstruments@hertfordshire.gov.uk.
