BRASS ATTACK!

...for brass players at Secondary school who are Grade 4 standard and above

STRINGS

CAPEL STRINGS 
Friday: 16.00-16.45

...for String players who have been learning between 1 to  2 terms
This is a first ensemble experience and is an introduction to orchestral playing skills.

JUNIOR STRINGS
Saturday: 11.00-11.45

Grade 1 to Grade 3
As well as practising the Strings skills you have already learned, students will learn the elements of ensemble playing.

REPERTOIRE STRINGS
Saturday: 11.45-12.45

Grade 3 to Grade 5
Requires good sight-reading skills and some position shifting may be required. As well as practising all the string skills that they have learned, the players learn formal aspects of orchestral playing and have a lot of fun! 

STRING SINFONIA
Saturday: 10.45-11.45

Grades 5 to 7
For String players with good sight-reading skills, confident position shifting and some vibrato required. 

SENIOR STRINGS
Friday: 17.00-18.00

Minimum standard of grade 7
For experienced orchestral players who wish to tackle professional string orchestra repertoire and perform to a high level. A well rounded technique with confident shifting into all positions is needed and well developed vibrato skills.

WATFORD SCHOOL OF MUSIC YOUTH ORCHESTRA
Friday 18.15-20.15

Grade 7 and above. Entry by  teacher recommendation or by informal audition.

tandard full symphony orchestra repertoire is studied in full and in sectional rehearsals.

WIND

SENIOR WIND ENSEMBLE
Friday: 17.00-17.45
...grade 6 and above

BANDS

JUNIOR WIND BAND
Tuesday: 16.45-17.45

...for beginner to grade 3 children in Key Stage 2 and above. This is a great first experience for playing in a wind band.

CONCERT BAND
Tuesday: 17.45-18.45

...for children of Secondary school age who are Grade 4 to 6 or equivalent standard

ADULT WIND BAND
Monday: 20.00-21.00 (term time)

...we welcome all Woodwind, Brass and Percussion players of Grade 5 to 8 standard

PERCUSSION

JUNIOR PERCUSSION ENSEMBLE
Thursday: 6.30-7.00
...ideally suited to yeaar 5,6 and 7 students, who have some beat and rhythm experience and want to learn a wide variety of percussion instruments in an ensemble setting.

ROCK ACTIVITIES

Rock Up 16.30-17.30

Students will work as a whole class, in groups and by themselves to create their own music and work out how to perform Pop and Rock standards. This will be open to all instrumentalists and vocalists in year 5 and above.

Techno Live 17.30-18.30

This class is for musicians in year 5 and above who want to create and perform their own music using technology. This session can link with our ‘Rock Up’ class at 4:30pm

SOUL SINGERS

...for age 14 upwards including adults
No experience necessary. A wide range of music is performed including gospel, soul, pop, rock, jazz and blues. Regular performances are given throughout the year.

WATFORD JUNIOR SINGERS
Saturday 11.30-12.15
This choir is for all children in year 3 and over. Come and sing and have lots of fun exploring songs from all around the world in many different styles. You don't need to be able to read music or be learning an instrument, just come along.

Eurhythmics offers a very good basis for children preparing to take up an instrument and complementing what they learn in music lessons and at Key Stage 1.

SING, MAKE, PLAY! AND MUSIC FOR KEYSTAGE 2
For children aged 7 and above
Saturday 9.00-11.30

SING! - warm up session for all KS2 children
MAKE! - children create and perform their own music in their yeargroups.
PLAY! - Y3 and 4 children learn to play recorder and violin as a group.  Year 5 and 6 children learn to play an instrument in a small group, including flute, clarinet, brass and music technology.
EXTRA PLAY! - Beginner Theory classes, Watford Junior Singers, Junior Recorder Consort  - 11.30-12.15
