James Dickinson - Head of Hertfordshire Music Service

Secondary School Funding Application

The Music Service, in its role as Lead Partner in the Hertfordshire Music Education Hub, is allocating a proportion of the funding we receive from Arts Council England towards developing music in secondary schools.

This is being done as we feel that the main focus of the national initiatives have predominantly been for KS2, and we now have the flexibility to redress this.

We are therefore interested in hearing from Hertfordshire Secondary Schools with proposals as to how they could benefit from activities and initiatives that complement the core and extension roles of the Hub funding.
Projects to date have ranged from £500 to £3000 . We will prioritise bids that come from areas of particular social disadvantage as well as those that enable us to work more collaboratively with the school. Examples are a grant for equipment, supporting instrumental teaching, support for developing choirs and ensembles or additional help for more vulnerable students.

To apply for funding please complete the form below and return to deena.day@hertfordshire.gov.uk

For more information or to discuss ideas please do contact us. We are looking for schools to contribute either in cash or in kind to the projects and we also welcome joint proposals from consortia.

Schools may apply for repeat funding after a year. These applications will be considered subject to review/evaluation of the project, but school submitting first bids will be prioritised. We look forward to hearing from you.  (James Dickinson)

Closing date for applications for September 2017 will be 10th July 2017. Schools will be notified by the end of term.
