The Hertfordshire Songwriter 2012 Competition is running from January 2011 until September 2012, and is based around an online chart. The chart will feature songs written and recorded at our rockschools, workshops and performances and songs submitted directly by young people aged 19 or under from across the county.
Songs on the chart will receive feedback from our song-writing team and from professional song-writers.
We’ll be looking for songwriters to feature at our Songwriter 2012 showcases at gigs and festivals across the county, including the prestigious Hertfordshire Music Service Gala at the Royal Albert Hall in May 2012. Click here for more information about the Gala showcase.
On September 1st 2012st the chart will be reset in preparation for 2 months of online voting. The winner will receive a day of recording in a professional studio.During this time 10 songs from each category will be sent to professional songwriters to choose the winners.
The categories are divided into genre: Acoustic, Rock and Urban with sub-categories determined by age:
Junior: 5-11
Intermediate: 12-15
Senior: 16-19
*Age categories apply at the time of submitting the song
Winners will have the chance to perform at a final event at Hertfordshire University in December 2012 and will also have their songs featured on a commemorative CD.
